Player to Score 3+ Points in Each Quarter: How the Bet Works

Tonight's every-quarter lines

Player to score 3+ points in each quarter is one of the most talked-about NBA player props on FanDuel right now. It looks easy: a star who scores 25 a night only needs 3 points in every quarter. In practice it loses more often than most bettors expect, and the reason is almost always one quarter. Here is how the bet works, where to find it, and what our quarter-by-quarter data says about how often it really hits.

Want tonight's lines? Our every quarter bets page lists every FanDuel each-quarter market on tonight's slate with last-10 and last-5 hit rates, the spread and our tier.

What "player to score 3+ points in each quarter" means

The bet has four parts, and all four must hit. Your player needs 3 or more points in the 1st quarter, 3 or more in the 2nd, 3 or more in the 3rd and 3 or more in the 4th. His total does not matter. A 40-point night with a 2-point 2nd quarter loses.

That makes it a different bet from a points over. A points over cares about the total. This one cares about his lowest quarter. That is the number to research.

Overtime is not one of the four quarters, so a big overtime does not save a quiet 4th. FanDuel's Michigan house rules say it plainly: the fourth quarter does not include overtime. Bets settle on official league stats from NBA.com. Rules can change by state, so check the market rules in the app.

Where to find it on FanDuel

Open any NBA game on FanDuel's NBA page and go to the Popular tab. You will see:

  • Player To Score 3+ Points In Each Quarter: the main version, posted on every game on Saturday's slate.
  • Player To Score 5+ Points In Each Quarter: the same bet with a higher bar, on all seven games Saturday.
  • Player To Score 8+ Points In Each Quarter: only for the biggest scorers. On Saturday it was posted for one player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, at +1400.

The team version, Winning at End of Every Quarter, sits under Team Props. We list it on the Win Every Quarter tab of our hub. That one asks a team to be ahead after every quarter, with "Any Other Result" covering everything else.

How often stars actually hit 3+ points in each quarter

We pulled quarter-by-quarter scoring from ESPN play-by-play for every game last season (2025-26, 1,232 games) and counted games where a player scored 3+ in all four quarters. We only counted games where he played at least 20 minutes, and players with at least 40 of those games.

Player scoring averageGames with 3+ in every quarter
25+ points per game46% (446 of 961)
20 to 25 points per game30% (503 of 1,691)
15 to 20 points per game17% (517 of 3,034)
Under 15 points per game7% (423 of 6,386)

Even the league's best scorers miss this more often than they hit it. Among regulars last season, the highest rates were Lauri Markkanen at 60%, Luka Doncic at 54%, Victor Wembanyama at 51% and Jaylen Brown at 50%. Donovan Mitchell and Stephen Curry were at 49%, Kevin Durant at 46% and Nikola Jokic at 45%.

The 5+ version is much harder. Doncic, the leader among those stars, did it in 29% of games. Most 25-point scorers were under 20%.

Why the 4th quarter sinks most of these bets

When a 20-point scorer missed, we checked which quarter did it. The 4th quarter was a problem in 888 of 1,703 misses, more than any other quarter (the 2nd was next at 581). Two things drive that:

  1. Blowouts. In games decided by 15 or more, 20-point scorers hit 3+ in every quarter just 23% of the time. In closer games it was 43%. Stars sit when the game is over.
  2. Rest and fouls. Coaches manage minutes in the 4th, and foul trouble shows up late. The opponent matters too: our defense vs. position rankings show which teams give up the most points.

That is why our every quarter bets page drops overs when the spread is 9.5 or more, and flags any player whose team is a big favorite. A star on a heavy favorite is the classic way this bet loses: three good quarters and a seat on the bench.

How to read the price

FanDuel prices these as plus-money for most players. On Saturday, Donovan Mitchell 3+ in each quarter was +140 (see it in Slip Surgery) and Kevin Durant was +145. A +140 price implies about a 42% chance (100 divided by 240). Our implied probability guide shows the math.

Then compare it with what the player actually does. Mitchell had done it in 7 of his last 10 games and 3 of his last 5 as of Saturday morning (his game log and hit rates show every game). Over all of last season he was at 49%. Recent form and the full-season rate often disagree, so we look at both, plus minutes and the spread.

A quick checklist before you bet it

  • Check the lowest quarter, not the average. Look at how often he got 3+ in every quarter in his last 10 games. Our every quarter stats tool shows it for every player.
  • Check the spread. At 9.5 or more, the 4th quarter is a real risk.
  • Check minutes. A player under about 28 minutes has less room for a cold quarter.
  • Check the injury report. The official NBA injury report updates through the day. We never feature a questionable player. If he leaves early, the bet is gone.
  • Keep the stake small. Every-quarter legs are fun-slip bets. Stacking several of them multiplies the risk fast; our parlay calculator shows how quickly the odds stretch.
  • Check the slip. Paste it into Slip Surgery or our bet slip checker to see which leg is the weakest before you place it. Our guide to loading a slip into FanDuel covers the last step.

Player to score 3+ points in each quarter vs. other every quarter bets

There are other "every quarter" style bets, and they behave differently:

  • Winning at End of Every Quarter is a team bet on leading after all four quarters. It usually pays more than the moneyline because a lead has to hold at every break.
  • Team quarter totals (an over for each quarter) can stand in for a "20+ points every quarter" team bet, which FanDuel did not post on Saturday. FanDuel's quarter lines sat near 26 to 32, much higher than 20.
  • 100+ points through 3 quarters for a team was not posted either. On Saturday's slate, no team had done it in more than 4 of its last 10.

We track all of these on our every quarter bets page, with the market marked "not posted" when FanDuel does not offer it.

The bottom line

Player to score 3+ points in each quarter is a four-part bet hiding inside one line. Even 25-point scorers hit it less than half the time last season, and the 4th quarter in a lopsided game is where most tickets die. Look at the lowest quarter, the spread and the minutes, keep the stake small, and treat it as a fun slip.

Frequently asked questions

What does player to score 3+ points in each quarter mean?

The player has to score at least 3 points in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter of the same game. One quarter with 0, 1 or 2 points loses the bet, no matter how many total points he scores.

Where do I find player to score 3+ points in each quarter on FanDuel?

Open an NBA game on FanDuel and look on the Popular tab for Player To Score 3+ Points In Each Quarter. Many games also have a 5+ version, and a few stars get 8+.

Does overtime count?

Overtime is not one of the four quarters, so a big overtime does not rescue a quiet 4th. Check the market rules in the FanDuel app before you bet, since house rules can change.

How often do NBA stars score 3+ points in each quarter?

Less than you would think. In our 2025-26 data, players averaging 25+ points did it in 46% of their games, and players averaging 20 to 25 did it in 30%.

What is player to score 5+ points in each quarter?

The same bet with a higher bar: 5 or more points in all four quarters. Even the league's top scorers did it in only about 1 game in 4 or 5 last season, so it pays a lot more.

Is winning at end of every quarter the same bet?

No. Winning at End of Every Quarter is a team bet: the team must lead after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters. Our every quarter bets page tracks both.
