NBA Player Props Tonight: How to Research Them in 10 Minutes
NBA props move fast. Lines go up in the morning, injury news lands all afternoon, and a late scratch at 6:30 PM can change three teammates' roles. You do not need hours to keep up. You need a short routine you run the same way every night.
Here is the 10-minute version we use, with a real example from Friday's board.
Minute 1-2: Check the injury report
Start with the NBA Official Injury Report, which teams update through the day. Look for two things:
- Your player's status. Out means no bet. Questionable means we skip him too, because limited minutes kill overs.
- Teammates who are out. A missing starter frees up shots, rebounds and touches for everyone else.
Our player stat search and Slip Surgery read the same injury feeds, so a flagged player shows up there too.
Minute 3-4: Compare the line to his last 10
Pull up the player's last 10 games and count how many times he cleared tonight's exact number. Then check the median. A line at or below his last-5 and last-10 medians is asking for a normal night, not a big one.
Averages can fool you here. One 40-point game drags an average up for weeks. The median ignores it.
Minute 5-6: Check minutes
Stats follow minutes. If his minutes jumped because of a lineup change, his recent games may be a better guide than his season numbers. If his minutes dropped, the opposite is true.
Minute 7-8: Read the matchup
Defense vs Position ranks how many points, rebounds, assists and threes each defense allows to guards, forwards and centers. A tough matchup does not rule a prop out, but it should make you want a lower line.
Minute 9-10: Check the spread and total
- Spread of 9.5 or more: blowout risk. Starters can sit most of the fourth quarter, so we skip overs here.
- Total of 225 or more: more possessions, more stats to share.
- Close game: starters play their full minutes.
Then build the ticket. Two or three legs, not six. If you need help with the format, read how parlays work.
A real example from Friday's board
This is a dated example, not tonight's pick. On Fri Oct 30, FanDuel had this line for the late game:
Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors F, vs. Los Angeles Lakers, Fri Oct 30, 10:10 PM ET. Assists 5.5 at -138.
Running the routine:
- Injury report: no designation as of 8:45 PM ET.
- Last 10: over 5.5 assists in 9 of 10, last-10 median 6.5. His last 10 assist totals were 1, 9, 12, 7, 6, 6, 8, 6, 7 and 6.
- Minutes: 31, 27 and 32 in his last three games. His last 10 still includes a few 2025-26 games, since this season is only days old.
- Spread and total: Golden State +2.5, total 234.5. Close game, high total.
| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| Line vs. last-10 median | 5.5 vs. 6.5 |
| Cleared last 10 | 9 of 10 |
| Spread | 2.5 |
| Total | 234.5 |
That is a line that passes every step. It does not mean it lands. It means the price, his form and the game script all point the same way. Green's game log.
Same game, a combo example: Collin Sexton, Los Angeles Lakers G, at Golden State, points + rebounds + assists 15.5 at -115. He cleared it in 8 of his last 10, with a last-10 median of 22.5 but a last-5 median of 16. That gap is a reason to check his minutes before using it. Sexton's game log.
The shortcut
Floor Lines runs steps 2, 4 and part of 1 for every FanDuel NBA prop each day. It lists lines a player cleared in 8 or more of his last 10, main and alt, with medians, minutes, spread and total. Saturday's NBA lines were not posted yet when we wrote this, so check it in the morning. Build from there, then paste your slip into Slip Surgery for a second look. Model reads only, never locks.
Frequently asked questions
When are NBA player props posted?
FanDuel and BetMGM usually post most NBA player props the day of the game, often by late morning ET, and keep adjusting them as injury news comes in.
Where can I find NBA player props tonight?
Floor Lines lists tonight's FanDuel NBA prop lines that a player cleared in at least 8 of his last 10 games, with BetMGM prices, medians, minutes, spread and total.
How do injuries change NBA props?
When a starter is ruled out, his minutes and shots go to teammates. Books adjust lines fast, but a late scratch can leave some teammates' lines low for a short time.
Should I bet on a questionable player?
We do not use questionable players at all. Even if he plays, his minutes can be limited, and his leg stays live in a parlay.
What is a good NBA prop to start with?
Lines on steady stats like rebounds, assists or combo markets tend to move less night to night than points or made threes. Start where the player's last 10 games clearly support the line.
